guess you never heard of SSD- they are future.. very fast drives, as Br8kaway leaned towards.. games loads twice as fast with a SSD... i have one for my main OS... One for my Steams games... and another for Origins games and direct installs.. and a 2TB Platter Drive for storage...

120GB 2.5" SATA III 6.0Gbps Solid State Drive (SSD) with SandForce SF-2281 Controller Price $120 Capacity 120GB
Now THAT looks like a deal. If you're like me, using only a desktop with mechanical/platter drives, you may not have a controller. My back up media, 1.5 TB, is used for family picutres, music, movies and por...miscellaneous stuff like resumes 'n such. That is all. I doubt my Dell came with a SATA 3 controller, I'll have to check.

| interesting.. never heard of micro-center
think i'll stick to Known-Brands for the time being..
to me, at that price for a SSD - looks like a cheap Chinese product.. always felt you get what you pay for...
but again, thats just me....
good luck... | |

most of these drives are backwards compatible, they just run at the slower sata2 speed. but sata2 SSD is still faster than sata2 platter.
everyone should have an SSD by this point. at the very least for OS boot drives.

| Microcenter has been around for a while. At least in Texas and in Colorado. That SSD i linked is basically the same as an OZC Vertex. I used the previous Microcenter SSD with Sandforce controller for 2 years without any problems. The only reason I returned it was because I bought the Microcenter 2 year replacement warranty for $9. Returned the SSD at the end of the second year with no problems and upgraded to an SSD with the newer Sandforce controller and SATA III interface. | |
